whew! haven't posted in such a long, long time. we had to get used to a new system in the office and everyone was quite confused. missing files, inaccessible websites...nice. my blog doens't show up right, i can't access my hello kitty mail, i can't upload files to my yahoo briefcase, blah-blah-blah. but hopefully, things will be better this week. after all, i have quite a lot to finish before i go. my last working day will be the 14th of may and i want the transition to be as smooth as possible.

anyway, had a great week last week! i had a couple of interviews already (from the same company) and i might have another one this week. ^_^ i'm keeping my fingers crossed!

wednesday -- i got the books (kanji and grammar) takashi sent me from japan. ^_^ compared to the grammar book of the kanzen master series, the grammar book he sent me (?????????g????{??\?????^?T?O?O/donna toki dou tsukau nihongo hyogen bunkei 500) is far more useful. i can even use it for self-study, whereas kanzen master is a little bit difficult to understand at times. as i was telling takashi, i don't have a reason to fail the 2nd level of the japanese language proficiency test (jlpt level 2). >_<; thanks a million, takashi...you're such a great bud, mwah!!

i also got the "2003 kouhaku utagassen" video cds i ordered from kei (of the j-music mailing list at yahoo groups). ^_^ YAY! mojica-sensei has the whole thing on vhs tape but we weren't able to watch the entire show. now, i can!! but of course, i did promise gigi-san that i will lend the cds to her, together with my gensomaden saiyuki series. which means, i will have to spend at least an hour a day to watch one cd, hehe. >_<

when i got home, i went online to email takashi about the books and found out that melvin had already sent us the pictures from his farewell party. ^_^ nice! turns out, he forgot all about it, hehe! the pictures turned out really nice. it was dark inside the karaoke room but the pictures were bright. wow.

friday -- grace makino (toyama, japan) gave birth to a 7.5-pound baby girl!! seira takes after her dad seishi, but she's really cute. when i got an email on my cellphone, i had a feeling it was from grace...it was a picture file "feeding time". i was like "what?! she gave birth already??" for a full 30 minutes, my fingers were busy texting everyone i know to tell them the good news. ^_^

saturday -- labor day so no work and no school. it was also corrie-sensei's baby shower in valenzuela. the original arrangement was, cel and i were to go with gigi-san in her car so we could go to valenzuela together. then maricel texts us in the morning, telling us that her husband (whom we call "herbert", because of his resemblance to herbert bautista) is also coming and they will meet us at teriyaki boy at 10 am sharp. ok, fine. then gigi-san texts back, asking for an additional 10 minutes because she still had to prepare. ok, fine.

maricel was telling us to hurry up because they were already in ayala. i thought all along that "they" meant "herbert, maricel and gigi". so i was "geez, late again!". when i got to ayala, i learned that maricel and herbert decided to drive by the international school first (he probably got tired of waiting) and gigi just got to teriyaki boy. hehe, so who was in the car with them?? so finally, they returned to teriyaki boy: inside the car were herbert, maricel, kozue, daichi, and dorie (maricel's younger sister). whew, the whole family!! i didn't really mind; i was actually hoping that she will bring the kids. ^_^

it was a long ride to valenzuela, and one could easily get lost along the way. but we had a map and herbert turned out to be a really good driver. we got there in less than two hours; we could've gotten faster if not for the traffic and bad roads. we got there at just about the same time as alice-sensei, alfred-sensei (of course), joy-san and jun-sensei (?). i wasn't introduced to him and i don't really know him. i used to see him at the philippines-japan alumni center (pjac) when we still had classes there. well, one couldn't help but notice him...how could i ignore anyone with anime hair?? hehe. just a few minutes later, jimmy-san, violy-sensei and muffy arrived with kimiko-sensei, keli-sensei and juvy-sensei (?). it was the first time i saw juvy-sensei and she seemed so quiet unlike the other teachers.

it was really good to see corrie-sensei after [counts] eight months. the last time i saw her was in september 2003; i was in tokyo and i went to tokyo disneyland with her, manuel-san, rin and yamagishi-san. she looks so different now...her hair is straight, her skin is lighter, her tummy is bigger (of course, duh!)...she has that certain glow...that motherhood glow. ^_^

the long trip to valenzuela was worth it...i mean, i would do it all over again if it meant getting to eat all those delicious food!!! YUM! seafood galore...shrimp, tilapia, oysters...then camote tops and eggplants with bagoong (fish paste). green mangoes and bagoong. cold, cold buko juice. for dessert, buko pandan and ube halaya! i wish i had a larger tummy!! ^_^ i swear, if corrie-sensei decides to adopt me for a month, i will turn into a pig. oink, oink!

i wish we could've stayed longer. but herbert wanted to go home because it was too hot. duh! we never even got around to the opening of the baby shower presents! and i was looking forward to it too!! well, it's not as if our gift was so special or anything. i mean, it is special in the sense that maricel and i spent some considerable amount of time inside goodwill bookstore to find some books on parenthood. i thought it was wise to give them books on the topic because this is their very first baby. the baby stuff (clothes, bags, etc.) will just have to come during the baptismal. ^_^

anyway, we got her a couple of books: the first one was on general parenting and the second one was on baby's first foods. it was stupid of us not to get wrapping paper, so on friday night, i was looking through my stuff for some nice gift wrapper. nothing boyish (sensei's having a boy). so i went to the "ever-reliable" supermarket near our house and found a baby shower themed wrapper -- in pink. sheesh! so i had to make do with anything boyish, nothing pink and flowery. then i just put my creative talents to use...i made a rattle out of blue (or light purple...i can't remember...i'm color-blind sometimes, anyway) board paper, and decorated it with glitter glue and a strip of blue ribbon. cute, no? ^_^ well, it has to be cute...because whoever is going to open the present will have a terribly hard time. i wrapped the books in newspaper, then a lot of packaging tape!! ^_^v forgive me, sensei...i was just trying to be funny...^_^

herbert dropped us off at greenbelt; kozue looked really cute, waving goodbye. we're really good friends now!! even daichi recognizes me as his mama's friend. ^_^ gigi-san and i had coffee at greenbelt, a nice ending to a nice day. ^_^

so even if some freakin' virus had deleted almost all of my friendster testimonials (i only have two remaining), i couldn't care less. i'd rather have the friends than the testimonials. with all my friends around, it looks like i am having a much better life than someone i know who is having a difficult time moving on, hehe. life is too precious to wallow in the bitterness of a failed relationship...keep the lesson and throw away all your hate and bitterness. move on, live, love, eat!! danke, wolfgang puck! i used your by-line without your permission, hehe.
