maybe i'm a real cat, after all!

again, i almost got hit by a taxi last night. i was crossing kamias road (green pedestrian light, of course) and suddenly, a cab came speeding towards me from my right. a$$hole driver! this time it was really close!! like less than a foot!! i'm sure he can't even pay for my hospital bills if he had hit me. so why drive so recklessly?? i hate filipino drivers with a passion. i swear, they are among the most foul creatures ever to hit the streets! undisciplined filth!! i will get them someday...

the reason why i like coming to work very early in the morning and leaving the office quite late is that i just like the smell of the place. on my first day here, i recognized the smell immediately...the office smelled like the japan foundation in kansai!! 懐かしい?gosh, i totally miss japan...いつか行けるかしら。。。i badly want to go back...

and speaking of japan, edwin is leaving for osaka in less than a week. he won in that contest that i joined last year. so in effect, he is my 後輩 (kouhai = junior at school) and i am his 先輩 (senpai = senior). i am two levels ahead of him. i really expected him to win...well, actually, i expected someone from nihongo center to win, hehe. in fact, he didn't have any reason to lose! why? because i coached him every step of the way! i even handed in his form to the japan foundation...all because i really wanted someone from ncf to win! i was like, "here's what you're supposed to study" and "when you enter the room, face the panel, bow and say "おはようございます。edwinと申します。" and "if they ask you this question, here's what you're supposed to answer", blah-blah-blah.

after he won, he kept on asking me small stuff like how much money to bring, what clothes to wear, where to buy this and that, can he go out of the institute at night, can he see mount fuji, will he get to experience autumn, which country has the friendliest people, and anything else he could think of!

he's lucky he has me! not to glorify myself or anything. but last year, when i joined the contest, i didn't know what to do...i didn't know what to study, what to say in the interviews, what to wear, etc. i didn't know who my sempai was and i never asked advice from my teachers. maybe it was my pride; i wanted to prove to myself that i can win without asking other folks for help. and i did! ^_~v

well, next week, he's flying to japan. i can't believe it's been a year! i went there on the 3rd of september last year; yet, it felt like yesterday. i still haven't forgotten anything from that short trip! a selfish part of me wishes that i were going instead of him. but i had my time; now it's someone else's to enjoy and i hope he will really make the most out of it just as i did. make me proud, edwin!

the joy that is l'arc~en~ciel

got my new l'arc~en~ciel cd, 瞳の住人 (hitomi no jyuunin)!!! お姉ちゃんが買ってくれた!!maribile-oneechan got back from japan on thursday and i dropped by her house on friday to get my cd. i have found out (through regular visits) that if you are in the masaki house, you will find it hard to leave...the place is just so...happy that you'd want to spend every waking time there. the kids are fun to have around, especially jun-kun; they probably take after their mother. ^_^ i don't know, the house is just full of sunshine. anyway, i was there until a little before 10:00 pm, playing with jun-kun, and teaching him how to write and draw.

tita cat,ここ、寝るの?
いいえ、今晩だめ。来週よ。約束だよ。

when i left, it was pouring! i didn't care if my shoes were soaked or if my pants were wet up to the knees; i just wanted to make sure that hyde-sama and the rest of l'arc were safe and dry inside my bag. ^_^

the cd has five tracks:
瞳の住人
瞳の住人 (instrumental)
ready, steady, go (ken ready version)
ready, steady, go (tetsu ready version)
ready, steady, go (yukihiro version)

hitomi no jyuunin ranks as one of my most favorite l'arc songs ever. i just love the way hyde does those vocal acrobatics of his in this song. the lyrics are so tender and touching and it just lulls me to sleep every night. *sigh*

i also love "ready, steady, go". of course, before i bought this cd, i only knew of the original version. but i was pleasantly surprised with the way the other versions turned out. i especially liked tetsu's deep voice in his version. ken was awesome too...i really liked the way the chorus sounded. as for yukihiro's, i didn't like the version at first. i thought he drawled too much. for me, this was sort of the hard rock/bad boy version among the four. but the song grew on me as i listened to the song every night before i go to bed. ^_^

so there. my lullabyes for the month. ^_^

what if i buy the "ready, steady, go" maxi single too?? five tracks, all "ready, steady, go" in different versions: the original version, hyde-less, ken-less, tetsu-less and yukihiro-less. that's going to be crazy...
"are you ready?
ready, steady, can't hold me back
ready, steady, give me good luck
ready, steady, never look back
let's get started, ready, steady, go!!"

the annoying thing that is labelgate

my cd says "labelgate cd is a copy control cd. it will not play on macintosh. it will play on windows pc, after the music player "magiqlip2" is installed. it will not be copied on pc without the internet id authentication which is only available to residents of japan. labelgate cd is a trademark."

...which means, i can't listen to hyde and tetsu and ken and yukihiro at work. good job, sony. thanks a lot.

so sorry, mae-chan and herb-chan...i'll lend you my cd when i get tired of it...which isn't soon, hehe :P

i miss my bud, takashi...i wonder if he's having the time of his life in hong kong right now. i'm sure he's very busy, adjusting to a new work and a new life as an expatriate. must be tough (though i have never experienced that in my life). new people, new environment, new food, new weather, new everything.

i'd rather he moved here for work instead but he did say he might be coming over to manila in the near future. yes!! can't wait!! i hope he comes before the year ends!

this week's prayer

dear lord,

please let me pass this time. i swear i won't cram for grad school ever again! ^_^
