manager na!

after only 2 months in the company, schatz has been made manager of the japan market ^_^ galing galing galing! おめでとう!ipagsigawan: boyfriend ko yan!!! hehe. what a beautiful blessing. i'm so proud of him and of what he has accomplished in so short a time. as i told him today, di ibibigay ni God sa kanya yan if it isn't good for him. i know this is just one of the many more wonderful surprises the Lord has in store for him. congratulations, schatz! ^_^

writer's block

i used to write a lot: poems, short stories and even a novel (which a gave to my high school best friend for her birthday). but when i got to college, i lost interest in writing altogether (particularly fiction writing). of course, i still wrote a lot of technical papers for school and they were good too (as panget had once said, "nakakakilabot sa ganda." panget ka pa rin para sa akin!! panget!) but they are an entirely thing. when i started my japanese classes, i immediately became interested in haiku and i wrote about 1-2 everyday. just because. but i guess that wasn't enough to fuel me to start writing again. i don't know when and i don't know how i can get out of this rut. i'm not in a hurry but i need to get hit pretty bad so i'll wake up just in time to publish a novel before i turn 50, hehe.

infected

go cat, may bago ka na naman na-infect ng favorite song mo! hurricane catalina back at work :) latest victim: aileen tan aka high-performing associate and reyna ng mga prinsesa ng multi-tasking. oh my queen, aileen. kaka-adik ang 'ever after' ko no?

And now we’re slightly weathered, we’re slightly worn
Our hands grip together eye to eye through the storm yet
I still believe in ever after with you
Coz life is a pleasure with you by my side
And there ain’t no current in this river we can’t ride
I still believe in ever after with you

涙そうそう - a stream of tears

this is my mega-lss, as in 'last song syndrome'. i heard 'nada sousou' yesterday on my favorite sunday noontime show 'nodo jiman'. the guy who sang it was a nikkei-jin and he didn't make it to the winners' circle. he wasn't very good but the song drove me to tears; i don't know why. i first heard it during the 2003 kouhaku utagassen (red and white song battle) on nhk and i've loved it eversince. this is an okinawan song that's so touching it gives me goose pimples. ^_^ anyway, i'm posting the lyrics and i hope somebody can give me an mp3 copy of that ^_^ (btw, i've added this to my 'my50' list of things to do before age 50: sing nada sousou with shamisen accompaniment. pretty ambitious, huh?)

作詞 森山 良子
作曲 BEGIN
唄 夏川 りみ
Lyrics: Moriyama Ryouko

Translation

I whisper "thank you", as I leaf through this old photograph album,
to one who always cheered me on, within my heart
And should the memories of that smile I think of, *1come rain or shine, fade away into the distance
They return in the days I search for a glimpse of your face, a stream of tears

Almost a habit now, I wish upon the very first star *2
Looking within the evening skies for you with all my heart
The memories of that smile I think of, in sorrow or joy
And if you can see me, from where you are
I'll live on, believing that someday we'll meet again

And should the memories of that smile I think of,come rain or shine, fade away into the distance
In loneliness and yearning - my feelings for you, a stream of tears
If only we could meet, if only we could meet - my feelings for you, a stream of tears

Rare Beatles memorabilia to be auctioned in London

please don't wake me
no, don't shake me
leave me where i am
i'm only sleeping...

news from yahoo. if i were filthy rich...

LONDON (AFP) - A first draft of Beatles song "I'm Only Sleeping" leads a flurry of pop memorabilia up for grabs at Christie's in London next week.

Christie's is auctioning more than 230 lots of rare recordings, instruments and clothes on Wednesday, with John Lennon's draft lyrics for "I'm Only Sleeping" expected to fetch in excess of 200,000 pounds (295,000 euros, 360,000 dollars).

The late ex-Beatle's song was sketched out mostly in blue felt pen in 1966 before ending up on the "Revolver" album.

The draft is briefer than the final recorded version and shows deletions, alterations and variations to the text as Lennon worked out the song's wording and title.

Beatles fanatics can also bid for the only known recording of the Beatles performing in Hong Kong, estimated to make between 30,000 and 40,000 pounds.

The group played at the Princess Theatre in Kowloon on June 9, 1964 and the reel-to-reel recording made by a journalist in the audience contains 10 full songs.

A previously unheard and undocumented interview with Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono in May 1969, at their famous "Bed-In For Peace" protest in Montreal is expected to fetch 15,000 to 20,000 pounds.

The hour-long tape was never broadcast and has been locked away in a trunk ever since.

The auction also includes a 1963 Gibson acoustic guitar given by Sony Music to Noel Gallagher in 1995 to mark the success of his band Oasis's second album "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?".

Gallagher played the instrument at numerous concerts and recordings. It is expected to fetch between 4,000 and 6,000 pounds.

Other items in the pop memorabilia auction include guitars once belonging to Eric Clapton, Peter Townshend of The Who, and a catsuit worn by flamboyant Queen singer Freddie Mercury.

working late in the office again. actually, im waiting for teta to drop by. she's bringing bags she's selling. i'm not really reselling them, just wanted to help her out with her business. schatz hopes this is worth it, staying late in the office and getting home late (again, like last night). he's so sweet, my boyfriend ^_^

i'm just trying to earn extra money, both of us are. so aside from the japanese tutorials, i'm helping out teta with the bags and she gives me commissions.

speaking of money, this is a good month for both of us. i got a pay increase (above market, as jerome the guru stressed during our meeting) and my variable bonus for the year. yipee! then a couple of days later, schatz got his pay increase too. and he's been in the company for only 2 months! i'm happy that the company recognized his value. he's a gold mine, really. they're so lucky to have him. ^_^

wala lang, i changed my blog template. because my
haloscan account is a free/basic account, my comments keep on disappearing on me. i won't have the same problems with blogger, i'm sure.

sa totoo lang, gusto ko na umuwi...wahh! i want my bed, i want baby bear, i want papa bear!

i don't watch pinoy big brother...got a problem with that? lunch time
talk was never this sickening. i don't need to see how bad pinoys can
get when you lock them up in a house with no nothing, only 'pretty'
housemates ('pretty' is a relative term). mas nakakadiri pa sa mga
kwentong madam auring, mystica at mahal. tama si herb, sad life.

yay! finally got the pics up on my photo blog ^_^ click here to view my albums ^_^ i still have loads to upload (especially our sagada pics. the rest are with schatz) and i have yet to put the link on my website menu. oh well, that can wait for now. i'm just having fun with the photos (a little bit trigger happy in the past weeks too).

german 2 class has ended 2 weeks ago, thank God! i had my final exams when i was sick. kakahiya. i was coughing throughout the exam. pero i don't really care na. i did my best and that's it. i don't even care about my final grade. i just wanted to get it over and done with. but i know one person who is concerned about my grade ^_^ she's a classmate of mine who's seems to be after my neck after she learned that i got a "sehr gut" (very good) rating for german 1. she almost got "gut" but she was short by 1 point. pansin ko lang, sa buong student life ko, laging may grade-conscious akong kaklase. kakainis. i just hate it when they compare themselves with me. hello, issues! sorry, i'm not competitive kasi e.

i won't be registering for german 3. i didn't like the schedule this term. but i'll try to study by myself using my living language german kit. can't let my brain cells get rusty, can i?

i'm trying to go full speed ahead on our japanese tutorials. i suggested online lessons and i'm already making the curriculum. it's not easy but i'm having fun so far. ^_^

one thing i really hate is the smell of ciggie smoke early in the morning. i dread passing by robinson's summit because the call center people there are having their cancer breaks by the time i get to makati. yuck! not something i would prefer to wake me up!
