Love Angel Music Baby, Make me a Harajuku girlie!

The Company Christmas party theme has been decided. This year's is "The Season of Colors". Everyone has to come to the party dressed as any Crayola color of his/her choice, except black and white. The costume has to be entirely in that one particular color only. Boring! I thought maybe I could spice my costume a little and decided to come as a....Harajuku girl!

Yep, I've always wanted to experience how it is being all dolled up in the weirdest outfits but still blend in with all the other weirdos around you. The Harajuku culture has already made its impact all over the world. Even foreigners in Tokyo come to Harajuku dressed up in their craziest cosplay getup. Harajuku people are also a favorite subject of photographers. The stuff I see on Flickr is enough proof.

What attracts me to it is the freedom to be what you are and what you want to be, no inhibitions. You get to be weird cool for a day and just forget all about your worries as a 'normal' person. Hehe.

Anyway, my big prob is trying to really pull it off, with just one color. Lots of the pictures I saw have people in either black or white so this makes it a little more difficult for me. I suppose I can get a dress in a striking, solid color (I'm

Harajuku fashion

leaning towards electric blue or blood red, just like that one in the pic) then just find other fabric to layer on or under the dress. How about a silky kimono-like attire? Another problem is the makeup! I've already downloaded some pictures of really interesting face makeup. The problem is, I don't know what kind of makeup they used. I don't think ordinary makeup would do because they are too light. Unless I put it on really thickly. I'm thinking of the more dramatic look visual kei artists usually put on. Like Mana, the v-kei god of cross-dressing. Do they use those paint used in face painting? So I need to look like a clown? But I'm sure I could buy a few pots of face color then practice putting the designs on my face.

But what do I get from all this dressing up? A measly Starbucks gift cerficate worth P1,000. Hehe, so I'm really wondering if I should go through all the trouble of coming as a Harajuku girl to a party where most of the people do not appreciate the Japanese youth culture. Grr..I'm so confused!!!

The Amazing Race Asia begins!

The Amazing Race Asian edition premiered on AXN last night. I went home early to catch it and boy, I'm glad I did! Here are my initial observations after watching the first episode:

Allan Wu (the host) - You're no Philiminator so stop acting like you're related to him. I think Allan Wu needs to put a little emotion into his monotone. It's boring to listen to this guy. Will it hurt him to just smile a little? I saw a pic of his, and he's got nice dimples. Maybe he should smile more.

Aubrey and Jaqueline - I'm not particularly bothered about Aubrey's English as some people are. What I did notice is that they're trying too hard to appear very kikay. Put powder on my nose, does my hair look ok? Did the race bigwigs tell them to act like that? They look like the Asian versions of the ubiquitous models/beauty queens/ditzy blondes in every season of the Amazing Race. I really get this feeling that they aren't as maarte as the editing made them out to be. For one, Jeena commented how good a driver Aubrey was. And they were driving right hand drive cars! Ernie even accidentally bumped another car. Still, I don't think this team will go far. Then again, I could be wrong. I'm rooting for Team Lopez more than this team.

Jeena and Ernie - Early faves! Ang kulit ni Ernie. Hehe. First episode pa lang, nakabangga na agad ng ibang sasakyan. I hope they showed how they got out of that situation. 'Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!' shouted the Katipunero. But my favorite quote of his is this: We met at a rock climbing gym. Soon after, we were climbing each other. The Lopez couple is, by far, the most interesting team in TAR Asia.

Sharon and Melody - Another early fave, though they did not have a strong showing last night. I hope they get better in the next episodes.

Marsio and Mardy - I'm inclined to like these guys. They seem very fun-loving. Good for them, coming in first place. I don't know how far they will go, though.

Andrew and Syeon - There's something about this team that I don't like. I have yet to find out what. Hehe.

Prashant and Sahil - Camwhores!! Pose ng pose ang mga mokong! Feeling pogi, yuck!

Howard and Sahran - I'm always cheering for the gay guys in every season of TAR. Hehe.

Zabrina and Joe Jer - They have strong personalities, especially Zabrina (the tanned girl). I think they will go far in this race as long as Zabrina takes the lead for the team. Oo na, Arol...Mas maganda ka na kay Zabrina!!!

Andy and Laura - I'm not convinced about these two. They don't look competitive enough.

Sandy and Francesca - I hope they got eliminated! No, the Amazing Race Asia should be all-Asian!

Ang Pilipinas ay para sa Pilipino. Ang Asya ay para sa mga Asyano. Hehe. Sino ba ang nagsabi nito, si Hirohito?

Anyway, I look forward to next week's episode. I hope I will like this better than the current Amazing Race. Now, that one is very boring, with the 2nd worst batch of teams/personalities. Only 2nd to the Family Edition on the boring scale.

Too much map-viewing!

She also graduated from her Master's program. She told me in her email: Ang liit ng sweldo dito pero pwede na, konti lang naman akong kumain. Classic Ritch! I went WAHAHA! Congrats, Ritch! Good luck with your career! I miss you and your antics. I hope we'll see each other soon. For goodness sake, get a new cellphone!! If she reads this, I'm sure I'll get a resounding 'Gaga!' :P

Rose and Zait - Best wishes to the soon-to-be mommies. ^_^ More kids for next year's Halloween party? Hehe.

The infamous pregnancy strip

If the reports are indeed true, then Kris Aquino will now be know as the Queen
of All Jologs. I don't watch the Buzz (or any ABS-CBN show, for that matter),
so I wouldn't know if it was true. But my showbiz-addicted colleagues saw that episode of the Buzz where Kris proudly held up her POSITIVE pregnancy strip.
Just to prove that James Yap got her pregnant. OMG. Is that even proper? On
national TV too? Why did she feel that she had to show it to the entire
Philippines? That is just so sick.

How would people react if, for example, a teenage girl finally did the deed
with her boyfriend and wrote in her MySpace blog about it. Like this:

I finally gave in to So-and-so last night. It was the most wonderful night
of my life. I gave my virginity to the boy I loved. As proof, I am going to post here a pic of the condom we used last night, just in case some people have doubts whether we really did it or not.

GAG!! Uber gross! Anyway, Kris Aquino has officially sunk to new lows and I
baptize her the Philippine Queen of Crass. Nuff said.
